Hey bloggers

this week we had to do speeches and present them to our whole literacy group. I wrote my speech about the history of body piercings I think I did well on looking up at everyone, I think I could work on talking louder and speaking clearer, and learning most of it by heart. If I was to write another speech I would try to speak clearer and louder. I really enjoyed listening to the world records speech I think it was very interesting. But overall I think I did pretty well at presenting my speech. Have you ever written a speech? and if you have what was it about?

My pretty bird

 Hello Bloggers, 

On Tuesday we had a task and the task was to make a bird. First, we Choose a bird we wanted to do, then we painted the bird and cut it out, then we made the background for the bird, we got a bowl full of stuff to put on the background. Then we went out for lunch. 

Once we did that we got another copy to do our bird's background and this was a good copy. Then we folded the paper in half and cut the middle so it made a pop-out thing so the bird can go on. Once we did that we glued on the bird.

We did this task for the whole day and some people came into our class and told us how to do it. The teachers were away for the whole day so we had lots of student teachers come in and help us do this.

Animation for Maori language week

 Hey Bloggers, this week for Maori language week we had to make an animation about animals and then write the Maori name above the animal so you know what the animal's name is in Maori and in English. This is me and Holly's animation we did it in the jungle because we think there is a lot of animals in the jungle that we could do it about. We had to do 12 or more animals or objects we did 12. The animals in our animation are a lion, a monkey, a snake, a frog, a caterpillar, a Charmeleon, a bird, some flowers, a snail, a hedgehog, and a tiger. This is our animation.

Today for maths we had to make an animation on how to do bedmas. I made a video of my dog telling you how to do it. This is my video. It was really fun using my dog and trying to make her talk.

This week in lockdown for literacy we have been reading this book it is called private peaceful the book is about the war. after we all finished the book we get to watch the movie since we are in lockdown and doing school at home so instead of watching the movie in class Mrs. Davis sent us a link which gives us the movie so we can watch it at home.  Have you read the book private Peaceful?

Lockdown

this week we have been in lockdown and I have been learning how to make a new food every day. Yesterday I learnt how to make an omelette, today I made some french toast. I found the best one was the french toast it tasted the best, I put golden syrup and frozen berries on top of it. 

This is the recipe I used for the french toast

100ml of milk 

2 eggs 

1 tbls sugar 

1tsp vanilla essence

Production

 Hello, Bloggers for the past 13 weeks we have been working on a play called Aladdin. We performed our performance this week in front of a crowd.  There are two casts Tahi and Rua, im in Rua. This is the whole cast.  We practiced our lines and our dances every Monday Tuesday and Thursday and even some Sundays. The whole cast put a lot of work and effort into this. Thank you to everyone who came and supported us in the audience.  Have you watched the movie Aladdin?

Mystical Matariki Kites

Happy Matariki everyone! 

On the 2 July, we celebrated the Māori New Year, a time to consider the year ahead. The days are starting to lengthen and spring will soon be here, we just need to get through this cold winter first! 

Matariki and the Pleiades star cluster, have got many stories attached to them. We looked at two; one about how Ranginui and Papatuanuku were separated by Tāne Mahuta, and how Tāwhirimatea was so angry he ripped out his eyes and threw thunderbolts to the sky, creating the cluster, and another story about 7 sisters making kites, and them going to the sky. Ururangi’s kite was different from the rest, it was rainbow-colored. We have mixed these two stories to create the design of our kites.

My kite has Tawhirimatea and the wind represented with the clouds. I then colored it in like a rainbow.

The death of James Peaceful animation

Hi, Bloggers this week for literacy we are reading a book called private peaceful. We have only read the first 2 chapters of this book but it seems really good. For our task, we had to do an animation about James and Tommo Peaceful we had to make an animation on how he died. This is my animation. The little boy is Tommo and the big person is James. To play this animation you have to hold down the arrow button. 

Aladdin

 Hey, bloggers in school we are learning a play called Aladdin we have to do tasks when we are not learning our lines or learning any dances or songs. This task that I'm doing is drawing some of the characters. I drew Aladdin and Jasmin.

Egg challenge

 Hey Bloggers, 

This week on Wednesday we did a thing called S.T.E.A.M. Steam stands for science technology engineering arts and maths.

 For our challenge, we had to create a way how to drop an egg from a high place and try to make it not break. Our design was that we wrapped our egg in a card then wrapped it in lots of paper and then put the string around it. after we did that we put a plastic bag around it and put some air into it.

 The materials that we had to use were 3 pieces of paper, 1 meter of string, a plastic bag, sellotape, scissors, and paper so sketch your design on it. This is our design.

In literacy, we are learning how to structure a paragraph. We are using T.E.X.A.S, The T in Texas is for Topic sentences, the E is for Expand or Explain, the X is for eXamples, the A is for Analysis, and the S is for Summarising. 

Today for literacy we had to make a burger. This burger is representing how to write or structure a good paragraph. It shows that there are sections to be a paragraph.

today for māori we had to say how the weather was in māori. This is my video of us doing this. I was in a group with Riley, Emmelia, Tuari, and me. 

In this one when we said ua which means It is rainiy

  we said in this one kei te mahana which means it warm. In this one, we said Kei te pupuhi which means it is windy.

Stanley Yelnats - Holes

• In reading, we are reading a book called Holes. It is about a boy called Stanley Yelnats. This name can be said forward and backwards.

• Stanley was sent to a camp called camp Greenlake for a crime he didn't commit. He was accused of stealing a famous sports person shoes. At camp Greenlake he has to dig 5ft holes each day. Camp Greenlake is a dry wasteland In the middle of nowhere. 

• Stanley is from a poor family he is overweight and he got bullied at his school. His family is cursed and his family always seems to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Night at the disco

 Hey Bloggers, today in class we were looking at this comic and seeing what was wrong with it. Then we went to our seats and filled in the blank square. In this comic, these girls are at a disco and came up to this girl and totally ignored the other girl they tried to take her away from the other girl. They ignored the girl because she had something wrong with her eye called lazy eye. I filled in the blank space with them all having fun together because the girl went back to her friend and made them all be friends.

Hi, Bloggers this week we were learning about the Treaty of Waitangi. We had to make a character on voki from the British point of view or the Maoris point of view I did a British character. This is the link to mine.

 Hi, Bloggers for School we made scenarios about if someone was doing something to you and you were scared. This is mine I did what if someone was following you in their car. 

 

About me

Hi, Bloggers today we did a canva video for school. We had to write things we like to do and things about ourselves. In the end, I added lots of photos of me and my family.

Lego person

                             For school, we made a lego person that looked like yourself.

                             I did a light blue, pink, and dark blue background with stars 

                             around the sides. for my outfit, I did black shorts and a grey hoddie 

                             I did yellow as my skin colour because lego people are yellow.

                      For school, we had to make a Pepeha. This is my one we made on adobe spark it took about                        30 mins to make.

Fun at Wainui camp!

My favorite thing at camp was kayaking. I was in a single kayak and we played a

game with these taggers had to tag the back of your kayak and once they did that

you had to stay still until someone came and saved you by circling around you.

After we finished kayaking we had some more time so we jumped off the pontoon

and had a little swim and then we had to go in the van back to camp.
